Will be over on the 21st August for 12 nights. Not long enough. My plan is next week to go for 3 weeks with the girls and my husband will fly out for 10 nights or so. Very envious of you at the moment! Do let me know what you think of the new bit. |

Went down to the beach bar a couple of nights ago and fairly quiet. Firework display last Sunday but it was Ravda festival, so plenty was happening around the square. Havn't seen fireworks since. The usual seasonal restaurants seem to be the same but with an addition of a new restaurant(previous one knocked down) and a fish restaurant just past the square, hope to try it this or next week. We found one of the best places to eat this time was 'Pizza Puzzle' which is opposite the shoe mender near the town hall. Service was quick and pizzas of good quality. The fish bar is on the opposite side of the road to the 'old' chinese restaurant, near the amusements. I will look tonight to see what has replaced the Chinese, didn't notice when was up there the other night. Anyway back to life around the pool!!! |

(87.120.183.---) posts : 110 Date : 08-05-09 17:29 Hi Caroline & Alex, Unfortunately won't be going to Aquapark tomorrow now as my youngest has cut his foot and needs to keep it out of water for at least 24 hrs, so will be going Mon/Tues next week plus will try the fish restaurant late next week when my other half has arrived. Will update you then. With regard to internet access, yes we got it set up at CKat near the square. It costs an initial 5 lev for the rent of the modem and then 32 levs per calander month for access, so we only pay for the time we are over here. I think they come out intially to your apartment to set up. Yvette |

Run by Tony and Sue originally from Nottingham. If your lusting after good old fashion Brit fare then they can provide the goods. Roasts on Sundays, curry, home made pies, full english brekkie (with "proper bacon 'n' sausage etc etc. They are also a font of info if you want to find out about any days trips, car hire, advice on medicines, things to do in the locale etc. Laura their daughter sings some nights. She was on the Bulgaria equivalent of X Factor / Britain has talent and put up a good showing. Not really my thing food wise as I like to eat "native" when I'm abroad but good for a laugh. |

(87.120.183.---) posts : 110 Date : 08-06-09 18:38 Quiz night/Play your Cards is on Wednesdays starting approx. 9pm and Curry Night/Karoke is on Fridays, again starting around 9pm (full menu is also available on Fridays in case you don't like curry's. I suggest you get there by 8.30 as the past two weeks I have been some of the evenings but have heard that every seat has been occupied! Sunday evenings from 7pm is Roast Dinners (must book in advance and only Roast on the menu) with Lauren singing afterwards. Yvette |

So many reports on this forum and many others stating that the Bulgarians are miserable, maybe if the majority of Brits tried to 'do as the locals do' they might enjoy and get a lot more out of their holiday. They would definately find out that the Bulgarians are a friendly and loyal nation. The reason we return, twice a year, for many years is NOT because we have bought property in the country,( that is a definate NO NO) OR because its cheap, it is SIMPLy because we go to see our many BG friends. The ONLY time I have spent in a 'British' bar is to meet up with posters from this forum. Please try the Bulgarian way of life, especially in the villages, and Im sure you'll enjoy. WLx |

The last few times we visited we went to The Boat coz we thought we should and each time regretted it. Nothing wrong with the place, the people or the food. But sitting in an 'English Pub' (incidently they cant be that English as the Union Flag is upside down) eating pie and chips doing a quiz is not my type of thing. I wish them good luck tho. |

(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 593 Date : 08-07-09 16:12 HI All . went into what you refer to as the boat inn 2 years ago when they first took over what had been a half way decent Bulgarian bar/rest, had some Bulgarian friends with us and had one of the worst meals ever in Ravda the girl who served us who I take it is the daughter seemed to be totally uninterested in what she waqs doing and our friends were amazed that someone who was trying to open a business in Bulgaria did not seem to have even a rudimentary grasp of the language. this was the first and last time we visited them at the Boat |

The Chinese is also nice but huge portions .Caribi(host Rumen) beach restaurant and bar on the beach near Dolphin half way between Ravda and nessebar also Catalina Bistro also half way on right from Nessebat to Ravda Hope this helps but each for their own Alex |

Our appartment is at Cherno More, the huge "building site"across the way from the IFA Nessebar Palace hotels, so I often walk into Ravda. Although still a building site, we are getting more shops /bars there now.(Four chairs outside !!!) Only locals & workmen, it is not a holiday resort, they are very friendly though, used to us by now I suppose.A smile and Nazdrave usually works. |

Recommendations, but havn't tried this year - The Marina restaurant(now ran by the previous owners of the Admiral), Perla has new owners, Blue House. As and when we try, will advise. Disappointed with the Panaroma this time. Went to the waterpark on Tuesday, very busy but new area very good. The Paradise Island costs extra. The lazy river was good, kids enjoyed it! less than 2 weeks to go!! Yvette |

The Blue House excellent - we had fillet salmon (2 large pieces - 10 lev), white fish (2 large pieces), each served with saute potatoes and garnish. Also ordered a vegetable sach (6 lev), large and absolutely gorgeous if you like grilled vegetables. They give you side plates, so 2 main dishes and a vegetable sach will easily serve 3/4 people! As you pass the Boat on the left hand side, then the wooden building (Cafe Grisley), turn left up the side road, and approx. 200 yds on left side (blue building, hence name). Brand new, very clean & fresh, low backgroud music. We had 1 salmon dish, 2 white fish, 1 Margerita Pizza, 1 veg sach, 2 chocolate milkshakes, 1 fanta lemon, 2 half bottles of white wine all for 51 levs. Yvette |
