Some of them intend to rip you off. I tell you some of their tricks: 1. The "we buy/we sell - trick" They have tables like this: we buy we sell Eur 1,96 GBP 2,50 USD 1,30 The most tourists believe that they will get 250 levs for 100 pounds. And this is the error! The exchange office owner writes only, how many levs you have to pay for getting 100 pounds from him. But you want to get levs, no pounds! If you want to know, how many levs you will get for 100 pounds, it must be written under "we buy" !!! Is there nothing written, I wouldn't use this exchange office!!! Because you don't know, how many levs you will get for your pounds. 2. The same trick with other words: Some exchange-offices write: "Only this week: We sell GBP 2,50!" But you want to buy levs, not pounds! But they don't write, how many levs you will get. 3. This is new: I saw one kiosk without we buy/we sell. Instead of this there were written only three currencies: EUR, GBP and USD and beside the currencies very good rates of exchange. But: Above the rates of exchange was written only in Bulgarian and only in Cyrillic letters: "The tenth customer gets:" The question is: How much will get the other customers? I don't know it, you don't know it. That's why I wouldn't use this exchange office! 4. The crown exchange offices They are fair. You will get what you see. And you see the rates of exchange under "we buy". I had never had any problem with them. But I heard about some fakes in Sunny Beach. How to identify the real crown offices? a) There must be the name "crown" and the symbol "crown", no only the name! b) There a lot of crown offices in Sunny Beach. Each of them offers the same rate of exchange. If you see one with better rates, take care!!! c) I would test a new crown office only with 50 pounds. Manfred |

This is, what the owners, who intend to rip you off, do. If the rates are written under "we buy", it's okay, you know, how many levs you will get. Is anyone here, who is able to correct this posting? |

Under "We buy" they write nothing. This is their trick. |

Walked 100 yards to the next one, I said to the girl behind the bullet proof glass "Your board states 2.86 lev's to the pound (rates were better then) so if I give you £100 you are going to give me 286 Lev's right?" Yes she replied After giving me 233 Lev's, I said I should get 286 Lev's She just said smiled & said "The Bond" Sadly by then my sterling was the wrong side of the glass. A few hours later we attended the Balkan info meeting, where they drill into you to only use crown booths, sadly too late for me. If you use the crown booths use the coupons to get a better rate, they hand them out after you change money, or you can download one from here http://www.beachbulgaria.com/pages/crown_exchange_en.html But if your really switched on you will get a Nationwide Flex Account I will be using one in a fortnight

But for the best rate it is STRING which is under the Avenue Apartments at the front of Sun Palace and also next to JOY apartments which are on the opposite corner from Svejest Hotel. They will also, for a lower rate, exchange Northern Ireland and Scottish Notes |
