I didnt like it at all, Stayed in Sunny day hotel... warning the pool is freezing & they are unable to heat it. The rooms are a disaster with flea like creature crawling up from the drain the shower. Because it was end of season, the bar had very little alcohol in stock! The food was horrific, i lived on beans & toast all week. They only changed the towels every 3 days & the toilet paper was black. Me & my boyf got lost on the first nite we walk up past victoria palce & we were supposed to turn left to cut across to our hotel but we forgot were our left turn was so we carried walking until we cud walk no further along the promenade... needless to say i didnt feel safe, there was two men following us in "security" jackets, everytime we slowed down, they slowed down etc... but nothin happened, we made it back in one piece. Didnt see any "ladies of the night" (only good thing)  There was monkeys dressed up & snakes & poor wee croc with there jaws sellotaped shut to pose for pics at 15lev each... so cruel!! There was kids being told to run up to tourist to ask for money, there parents are sitting along the wall & they tell them which people to go too... u feel awful sayin no, but there probably earning more money on average each day than the working class! Some man selling grapes came up to my boyf sayin hello my friend, where are you from, boyf said Ireland, & then the man asked him did he want to taste a grape, my boyf refused, 3 times this man asked, until he eventually pushed d grape into my boyf hand, so he had to taste, he ate half & then the man offered him a bag of grapes, but my boyf refused again, so we walked on, then the man followed us asking for 8lev for tasting the grape which he had forced on us, my boyf laughed & continued walkin but d man kept following, i took the grape & went to throw it back into d man's basket which in turn made the man move away from us & he left? Seems if you make a scene he disappears. Disco Orange isnt much good. Dont go on bar crawls with the hol reps either as they say u get a free shot in every bar they go but the shot is more like fruit juice than alcohol. Didnt like the food much, got a steak one evenin & it was cold, i complained & they took it away but stil came back cold. Get a baked potaoe in a stall along the promenade, there nice or go to kfc if ye want safe food. Beach is filthy with fags as u enter at first but if you walk further on in towards the sea it gets nicer. Cant think of much else to report on but if i think of anythin i'l let ye know. |

I will only take issue with one point, when you state "Get a baked potaoe in a stall along the promenade, there nice or go to kfc if ye want safe food" there are loads of restaurants with safe food and for anyone to spend their holidays eating in the likes of KFC or McD****Ds are missing out on some great eating experiences in my opinion. At the end of the season when everything is closing down and the tourists begin to dwindle it seems the standards start to drop. Perhaps your report would have bben different if you'd have gone in the high season.

Nice report. Can you get Black toilet paper rolls?Never seen them. I guess there were not anymore Ladies of the Nights because they have all packed up and gone inland to towns to have a rest. Well it is that time and season when grapes are plentiful in Bulgaria. |
