(2.24.111.---) posts : 475 Date : 10-25-11 08:51 You have the choice of the internal flight which is operated by Hemus Air, if booked well in advance you can get it quite cheap, There are buses every hour from the main bus station in Sofia, taxi to bus station about 10lv depending on the time of day and the bus is 32lv one way, and it takes about 6 hours. Train is slow, not sure of the price as never use this service as its to slow for me, but about the same price as the bus. The best bet is the bus, they are nice buses and they stop halfway for you to get something to eat and drink. |

(---.as13285.net) posts : 362 Date : 10-25-11 17:53 hi kevin ive done both the bus and train journeys from sofia to bourgas i prefer the train especially if you are travelling at night i get the night vtrain and book a 1st class sleeper. its very safe as you have a guard in your carriage and its locked at both ends.the bed is comfy and plenty of bedding.we arrived 5 mins late in sofia even though it was snowing hard not bad,the journey is about 7 hrs same as bus. as i said i prefer train travel for long journeys but either way its cheaper than a flight straight to bourgas in summer love mama carol  |

It will take you approximately six hours (with a longer stop in Nova Zagora) and the fare is around 30 Levs oneway each. The are convenient and safe. You can not book in advance, sometimes busses are overcrowded and you will have to catch the next one. Enjoy your trip. |

(2.28.144.---) posts : 260 Date : 11-25-11 21:04 Kevin, know what you mean, Air Bulgaria have not come up with a programme from Gatwick to Varna, although Balkan Holidays assure me it will run, I have taken no chances and with a voucher for bad service this year, am going wizzair again from Luton to Varna, like I said previously, staying in Varna, then to Sunny Beach as I want to visit Istanbul, then back up to Albena, whereby I can fit a trip to Romania in. must start saving soon. (---.9-3.cable.virginmedia.com) posts : 206 Date : 11-25-11 21:17 tONY I live in Luton I norm go with wizZ costing over £170 to bourgas, been to varna (golden sands) caught a bus in Varna at the bus station, costing 10 levs to sunny beach i met some one on the bus, they were going to istanbal going on this bus to SB then at coach station bus to bougas bus station (near train station)then a bus to istanbal costing 55levs 7 hours jouney (yoi must take passport I am over there in june i was thiking going there for a couple of days (the person i met was going THERE FOR A WEEK THEN GETTING PLANE BACK TO THE UK |

(87.246.8.---) posts : 475 Date : 11-26-11 09:03 You have a couple of options regarding buses to Istanbul, If you use Niskili they pick up in Sunny Beach the stop used to be the police box on the corner of Kosharitsa but they pick up at the OMV garage on the main road just past the water park. Alternatively you can get the bus from Burgas the office is opposite the Luxor hotel not far from the Railway station, also this is where the bus picks up from. It is best to book your ticket on the bus before you go as they do get very busy, Niskili office is on the same side as the railway station in Burgas but you have to walk up past the Luxor hotel towards the sea gardens, You need your passport to book the ticket as your passport number has to registered as this saves time at the border, There is now a hydrofoil that goes from Nessebar but dont know the cost of that bus is 80lv return |

As Roland posted, you can find the bus timetable, but some of the companies have own websites, and some offer your to book online. Or if you know which bus you will take, you can buy a ticket the day before. Trains are much more comfortable, you haven't to stay all the time on the same small place. If you use a train book first class, or take the night train and book a sleeping car place. The train will be 23 lev and additional 15 lev for the bed. Sune |
