Hi Mike.

here are a few hotels you could try Hotel Bordo, Hotel Real, Hotel Gabi. or if somewhere a bit bigger though more expensive Hotel Trimontium. we have statey in all of these except the Gabi which we will probably be booking into in January for the long weekend. as for travelling down to burgas/sunny beach will you be driving or going by bus/train. let me know and i will answer any other quwestions you might have.

Robbie

Hi, the programme I use is www.razpisanie.bdz.bg
obviously click the EN icon.
Select Departure then destination, when this comes up ignore the Bulgarian writing, scroll down a little and there are your trains for a day. If you click on the number under train, this will give you a list of all stations and timings for the journey. My first time of using in Varna Area, I printed off and ticked the stations off as we passed them, many stations have no name plates. I have never booked in advance, but there again I have not used the express sleepers. Cheers. Tonyt.

hi michael ive often used the trains in bulgaria on a long trip say from bourgas to sofia i always get the night express and book a first class ticket as you are locked in and will not be bothered by anyone as sometimes you can get some rough people on.i always book first class even if im doing the 3 hour trip from bourgas to kazanlak. iv also used the buses to travel round bg but im afraid i find i need a toilet more often these days and the stops on the buses are not often enough for me. the toilets on the trains are quite often just a hole in the floor and a bit smelly but at least they are there when i need them.there is usually someone comes round selling drinks and food at really cheap prices.the only problem with the trains is that it goes to bourgas not sunny beach but the train station is next to bus station so you can hop straight onto the bus to sb.the only advice i would give is travel on trains 1st class its worth the bit extra love mama carol Very Happy Booze

My advise to you would be to hire a car, the airport is not in the centre of Plovdiv so it would mean that you have to get to the centre, then you have the choice of bus or train, the train is slow and most are dirty as mama carol says first class is the best way to travel on them, but again you are limited as you are travelling from Plovdiv and not Sofia. The bus is quicker, but both of these options are going to take a lot of time up for you, there are some very good deals about on hire cars, and its not a bad drive from there and very straight forward as its now mostly motorway. Have a good trip

For bus timetable you can use this http://avtogari.info/search_en.php
or you can check out thiscentralnaavtorgara.bg looking for buses from Sofia to Burgas and check out if they travel via Plovdiv.

Sune

P.S. The bus station south in Plovdiv is near the train station, the western one is on the other side of the river.
