US Ambassador Compares Varna with Los Angeles
The Bulgarian seaside cities are very attractive for the American investors, said ambassador John Beyerle after his meeting with Varna district governor Petar Kandilarov We won't deploy military bases in your seaside cities, John Beyrle said "To be in Bulgaria without seeing Varna is the same as visiting the USA without seeing Los Angeles," newly appointed US ambassador to Sofia John Beyerle said after his meeting with district governor Peter Kandilarov. The American ambassador chose Varna (northern Black Sea coast) for his first visit to a Bulgarian city different from Sofia. Beyerle said that 20 years ago he took the post American ambassador to Sofia, but then he missed visiting Varna. "I would like to know more about the city and its important role in the economic development of the country. Great changes have been made in the short period of 15-20 years, changes which result from the industriousness of Bulgarian people," said John Beyerle. He was explicit that the US military bases won't be deployed on the territory of Varna and Bourgas (southern Black Sea coast). "In these cities Americans would rather invest in the sphere of trade," the diplomat added. In his opinion the Varna district is among the quickly developing regions in the country and the flourishing tourist industry there is a good prerequisite for US investments.
