Over BGN 75 million have been invested in the new terminal. It took 20 months to build and it occupies an area of 20 000 sq.m. Passengers will have three times more space compared to the old terminal.
The design and construction of the two new terminals in Varna and Burgas costed over BGN 150 million. The new terminal will begin work on August 27th. Its capacity can be expanded, if needed.
The state-of-the-art interior design was applied as well as state-of-the-art management systems for passengers and baggage, fully integrated separate systems and electronic measuring/weighing and regulation of the terminal processes. Energy efficiency and flexible allocation of the spaces are other advantages of the terminal building.
The design is the work of the well renowned designers and architects and aims to keep the vacation mood of the passengers during their stay at the airport and involves as well elements typical for the Bulgarian architecture and nature.
Varna’s passenger terminal was built following increases in passenger traffic. The airport serviced a total of 1.2 million passengers last year.
